Our Guiding Principles at SEF

Accountability & Stewardship

We steward resources wisely, look out for long-term impact options, spend finances on intended purposes, and account transparently.

Resilience

We honor the resilience of refugees by recognizing their courage, adaptability, and strength in the face of displacement and loss. We create spaces that nurture healing, growth, and hope, and we stand beside participants as partners, ensuring their voices shape decisions and their experiences guide our programs, policies, and relationships.

Respect & Dignity

We honor the inherent worth, dignity, and resilience of refugees by treating every person with respect, listening deeply, and practicing cultural humility. We ensure their stories are heard without judgment and their rights upheld without exception. We reject all forms of discrimination, exploitation, and dehumanizing language or behavior. We commit to creating safe, welcoming spaces where refugees are empowered as leaders and where our words, policies, and actions affirm their humanity, strengths, and potential.

Carrying the ''Get it done mindset''

We embrace a “get it done” mindset grounded in integrity, collaboration, and care. We take initiative, follow through on commitments, and seek solutions rather than excuses, especially in the face of obstacles. We act with urgency and thoughtfulness, owning interventions with creativity and fully honoring the trust of our participants and partners by delivering on what we say we will do.
