Limiere Kuba Named Canada Advancement Officer for Solidarity Eden Foundation
Limiere Kuba was born in the DR Congo, grew up in Uganda, and has been living in Canada since 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Laws in Civil Law from the University of Ottawa and is currently pursuing her professional training at the Barreau du Québec.
Lumiere has had the opportunity to develop experience in several different environments. She currently works as a Business Analyst, where she analyzes and documents business processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and supports legal activities through research and analysis in labour laws. Before that, she worked as a Legal Technician at the Quebec Ministry of Justice, where she analyzed legal documents, interacted with citizens and witnesses, and assisted with preparing legal documents. During her studies, she also completed an internship at the Centre de justice de proximité de l’Outaouais, where she gained experience in legal research, writing, and assisting citizens with their legal needs. I have also worked in administrative roles, including at Global Affairs Canada through Commissionaires Ottawa.
Beyond her professional experience, she has always enjoyed being involved in my community. During university, she was involved with the Black Law Students’ Association of the University of Ottawa, including serving as Vice-President of Finance, where she participated in financial oversight, strategic planning, and fundraising. She has also volunteered with seniors and worked as a community health ambassador at the University of Ottawa.

We asked Limiere about what interests her most about serving at Solidarity Eden Foundation, and she said:
“What interests me at SEF is its focus on empowering refugees through community support and meaningful opportunities. I am particularly drawn to the organization’s emphasis on integrating and helping people become self-reliant. With my background in public service and community involvement, I believe I can contribute while also learning from the communities I would serve. This role comes at the right time because I am looking to get more involved in meaningful community-based work. I see it as an opportunity to use my skills in a way that creates a tangible and positive impact.
Having once experienced Uganda as a refugee myself, I understand the uncertainty and challenges that come with rebuilding your life in a new place. I want to use my own journey to remind refugees that their past does not define their future, while offering them support, encouragement, and opportunities to regain confidence and independence.”
We also asked her to tell us two fun things about herself, and she shared:
“I set multiple alarms in the morning and then hit snooze. I love watching movies, but I spend more than an hour deciding what to watch, and then I end up watching nothing. In my free time, I love spending time with my niece and my siblings. I also enjoy traveling and exploring.”
So, what experience and perspective does she hope to bring to the team?
“I hope to bring to the team both my professional experience and my personal perspective as someone who once experienced life as a refugee in Uganda. I understand that behind every refugee story is a person with dreams, talents, and the desire to build a meaningful future. I would like people to see refugees not only through the challenges they face, but also through their strength, potential, and resilience”.
Join us to welcome and celebrate Limiere as she takes on the Advancement Officer at SEF, to contribute to our organizational efforts to increase sustainability through fundraising, donor stewardship, partnership development, communication, and revenue generation. On top of her Canada and final school year commitments, she will be working closely with program and leadership teams to secure resources, strengthen external relationships, and elevate the organization's visibility and impact.
